Route planning
Day 1: Beginning of the adventure
We meet in Mendoza and transfer by private transfer to the beginning of the Quebrada de Vargas (approx. 3 hours drive). From there, we start the approach trekking to the base camp, located at 3600 meters above sea level. The hike lasts about 4 hours, crossing mountain landscapes and enjoying the natural environment. We set up camp and have a technical talk.
Day 2: Ascent to the summit
Early in the morning, we start the ascent to the summit of Penitentes (4350 m.a.s.l.). The trek offers spectacular views of Aconcagua, Tupungato and other Andean giants. The journey takes between 8 and 10 hours (round trip), depending on the pace of the group and weather conditions. Return to base camp to rest and celebrate the experience.
Day 3: Descent and return to Mendoza
We dismantle the camp and descend to the road, where the transfer awaits us to return to the city of Mendoza. End of the expedition.

It depends on the area we are in. Our guides know perfectly well the safe water sources and will indicate you where you can refill your bottle.
Should I carry all my personal equipment in my backpack?
Yes, each participant must carry their personal equipment and part of the food. If you prefer, you can hire personal porters to lighten your load.
Is there cellular coverage in the area?
In some sectors of the route there may be signal, but only the Movistar company works and coverage is limited. Disconnection is part of the experience.
Is the use of crampons mandatory?
Although the normal route does not present technical difficulties, being in the high mountains there may be snow accumulation. Depending on the season, your guide will tell you in the previous meeting if it will be necessary to use crampons.
Can I rent equipment if I am missing something?
Yes, we can advise you on technical equipment rental and help you get what you need for your expedition.
What level of experience do I need to climb the Penitentes?
The expedition is designed for people in good physical condition and eager to excel, although it is not necessary to have previous experience in high mountains.
What happens if the weather does not allow a summit?
